Play with Your Food FUNdraiser Surpasses Goal in Support of Carmichael Outreach
(Regina, SK) Play with Your Food (PwYF), a community-based board game FUNdraiser in support of Carmichael Outreach, has surpassed their goal of $15,000 – three months before the main event takes place.
“The response from the community has been astronomical,” said Matt Robertson, Chair of PwYF. “When we decided to start up PwYf in September post pandemic, we weren’t sure what to expect, and this response blew our expectations out of the water!”
“PwYF has been nothing short of amazing and we are so grateful that the committee chose Carmichael Outreach” said Amanda, Development Coordinator for Carmichael Outreach. “What really makes this unique is that all the money is donated in real time, so we have the support when we need it, especially in the middle of our fiscal year.”
How it all works: People sign up as a team of 1-8 people and micro-fundraise throughout the year to raise enough funds to qualify for the 24-hour event on March 25-26, 2023. So far, there have been events from cribbage and crokinole tournaments to dance classes and paint nights. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join, please visit www.pwyf.ca/events for a list of upcoming activities.
100% of all funds raised by teams are donated to Carmichael Outreach via CanadaHelps.org, making PwYF a truly unique fundraiser. In addition, Carmichael Outreach receives the funds in real time, helping them to meet their needs without drawing on their own resources.
“We have a lot of people to thank for helping us achieve this goal so early,” said Chelsea Low, Co-chair of PwYF. “We couldn’t have done this without venue sponsorship from the University of Regina and The Owl, Strategy Lab for sponsoring and designing our website, and all of the local businesses that have given us prize support or the opportunity to host events at their location – all for this amazing cause.”
PwYF is now setting their sights on a new goal of $25,000. With 21 registered teams and 84 participants so far, there’s still time to get involved and make a difference in your community.
