Meeples in your neighbourhood: Sara Orthner
At just 14, Sara Orthner is one of PwYF’s youngest regular gamers and team members – but she’s also one of the most committed!Since her first ChewsDay game night in April 2023, Sara has gone from being a regular at the learn-to-play table to posting and teaching her own favourite games.
She’s learned to tease and “trash talk” even adult gamers, and definitely holds
her own in games. And when she first heard about PwYF and our efforts to help address homelessness and poverty in Regina, she was ready to sign up immediately!
Her team, The Fellowship of the Game, joined PwYF’s second campaign in 2023-24, and they’re back again this year. Here’s what Sara had to say about her experience with Play with Your Food:
“One of the things I love about the Play with Your Food community has to be the community itself. The group is made up of such great people, all working towards a common cause using their own unique talents. From bake sales to racing games, there’s an activity and a place for everyone.”
“It’s the kind of group where you spend 24 hours with them and you wonder, ‘When can I see them again?’ And that’s what I did! I’m looking forward to coming back again this year and seeing all the wonderful people involved.”
