She jumped into the modern world of board gaming in 2018, with Lords of Waterdeep as her gateway game, and hasn’t looked back since! Her favourite game as a kid was Careers, and while she still loves to play it, there so many other new faves that she can’t name just one as her top game choice! Carmen Pauls Orthner

Carmen Pauls Orthner

Newsletter Editor

Carmen’s fondness for board games goes back to her childhood - learning strategy from Chinese checkers with her grandpa and “set collection” from many rounds of Hi Ho Cherry-O with her grandma. Her gaming tastes may have evolved but her enthusiasm for games - which she fortunately shares with her husband Bryan and daughter Sara! - continues to grow, as does her gratitude for the community of fellow gamers and social justice advocates she’s found in Regina. Carmen loves stringing words together, Louise Penny’s Inspector Gamache novels, sourdough donuts and brown butter lattes, live theatre, her daughter’s art, and conversations that run deep and long. She also likes run-on sentences.
